TURNING POINTS

1. The main character, Chief Brody, figures out the girl who died was killed by a shark attack.

2. Another person is killed. They decide to send fisherman after the shark but end up killing the wrong shark.

3. Brody’s son and friends were playing in the pond and encounter a shark. Nothing happens however Brody’s son goes into a shock.

4. Brody decides to go on a trip with 2 shark experts to find the right shark.

5. Brody ends up killing the big shark by shooting the tank that was in the sharks mouth.

CONVENTIONS

The conventions of a thriller/horror movie is that there is always more then one person who dies (many victims). Also the murderer usually always dies in the end and there is always a good ending. Horror movies make everything look extra scary in order to keep us on our feet.

This movie met my conventions because it kept me on my toes all the time because there was always something happening. Also the murderer ends up dieing in the end like i expected because that is what always happens. There were many people who died in the movie because of the murderer. I did expect this movie to be scary but i think it was a little over exaggerated because of the shark.

MOVIE REVIEW

I think that the movie was really good considering it is really old. They tried making the shark look real and they did an okay job however in some shots the shark looked extremely fake. I do understand that back then they didn’t have the things we have now to make things look more realistic but it could have been better. Also the movie was over exaggerated because of the way they portrayed sharks to be. They made it seem like the only thing sharks want to do is eat people and that is false. I think the directing and the acting was done pretty well. The directing could have been a little better but thats understandable considering we have much better equipment today. I recommend this movie for teenagers, young adults and adults. It is not recommended for younger viewers because of the obvious. We do not want little kids to believe the things that they see and we don’t want them to get terrified… i know i would be if i were a kid.

Turning Points

Tp 1 : Main character Johnny Utah gets hired as an FBI agent and is partners with Angelo. They begin investigating bank robberies.

Tp 2 : He meets a girl named Tylor during his investigation as an undercover cop and gets involved with a surfing crew.

Tp 3 : Johnny discoveres that the surfing crew are the ” ex presidents”

Tp 4 : One of the members of the crew show johnny a video of Tylor being held hostage. They need his help.

Tp 5: Johnny jumps out of the airplane to save both Bohdi and Tylor.

Point break is an action movie. My expectations were that there would be a lot of violence, fighting and killing just like any other action movie. In most movies there is almost always a romance between two people and i expected that as soon as Johnny and Tylor met. I did think this movie would be a little different because of the surfing and i didn’t expect it to have a lot of action. Also i expected the FBI to win in the end.

As i expected there was of course violence , fighting and killing which is obvious. Also there was a romance between Johnny and Tylor like i had expected and i enjoyed that part. This movie mainly revolved around money and robberies. In the end the FBI won and i am sure everybody expected the same thing because that is how most action movies end and he also ended up getting the girl he wanted.

Review

I do not really enjoy action movies however this movie wasnt really considered much action to me because of the surfing. It was very different from any other movie plot and the surfing idea really made it more interesting and fun to watch. Also the characters and acting were played very well especially Johnny(Keanu Reeves) which is a fantastic and talented actor. The directing was good. i could not point out anything wrong and everything seemed like it was filmed properly.

I recommend this movie to mostly Teenager and young adults because a lot of young guys are into action movies and love the watch fighting and crashing cars. Mostly men would watch this and maybe some girls but the majority would be men. It also does have romance for the girls so both can keep interested while watching. It is a different take on an action movie and i enjoyed it very much.

Tp1: Joe Kane made the cover of the magazine and he got nominated to win the Heismen throphy

Tp2: Joe meets a girl named Camille

Tp3: He looses a very important game by an intersection from the other team

Tp4: Joe Kane gets sent to rehab because he got drunk and beat up a guy in a bar and got caught for drunk driving

Tp5: Joe and his team win the final game of the season because of his pass to Darnell
My expectations of this movie were that there would be a main character trying to make it big and fulfill dream. I expected that because it seemed like an old movie and they usually always end like that. Another expectation that i had was that the main character would have a father that wanted him to be a football star but he didn’t want to because it was his fathers dream. I expected the team to have something stop them right before winning.

I think it did meet most of my expectations. I knew the movie was about football and that the main character had a goal and that was to win the Heisman trophy. One thing that i did not expect was that the main character, Joe kane’s father was not encouraging or supportive of his football career. I expected it to be the other way around. It really threw me off when he didnt show up to his game. Also, the team ended up playing the final season game and going through a little rough time after the quarter back is sent to rehab. As we all know there is always a happy ending and they end up coming in first place and win the whole season.

MY REVIEW

I enjoyed watching this movie considering that i do not really like sports movies. I like that we got to see the life and struggles of each of the important characters. Also, the movie was taken many years ago because it is an old movie and that being said i feel like the acting was very good and the filming was excellent, especially because they do not have the same technology as we have today. I think that this is an overall good movie and i do not think there was anything wrong with it at all. I would recommend this movie to mainly adults and young adults because the actors and scenes in the movie are more appropriate for those types of viewer rather then young teenagers. However i do think teenagers can watch it also but they must be mature. I do not recommend this movie for older viewers because i do not think they would be interested in watching a bunch of guys playing football. I also definitely do not recommend it for young kids because of some parts (steroids, rape..etc ). Overall it was an interesting movie.

Along Came Polly

TURNING POINTS

turning point 1 : During their honeymoon, Rubens wife cheats on him with the scuba diving instructor

turning point 2 : Ruben meets an old friend from school named Polly. She works at an art museum

turning point 3 : Ruben begins to realize that he is falling for Polly after going on a few dates with her

turning point 4 : Ruben’s wife Lisa, comes back from where they had their honeymoon and tells Ruben that she wants to get back together with him

turning point 5 : Ruben decides that he doesn’t want anything to do with Lisa and realizes that he has really fallen in love with Polly. He chooses her over Lisa

Along came Polly is a romantic comedy with one of the most famous and funniest actors, Ben Stiller. He is known for his Comedy movies therefore I automatically expected this movie to be extremely funny. I also considered it to be a romantic movie because the main story is about love. I thought the story line was a little obvious because of the name of the movie and because of the beginning of the movie, i knew what was coming. I expected the main character(Ben stiller) to find someone else and fall in love with her. Also, the movie didn’t let down my expectations on the comedy part because it was a very funny movie and many lines and scenes are still stuck in my head. It entertained me like i thought it would and that’s what a good movie is supposed to do.

This movie lived up to my expectations greatly because i was not at all disappointed. It was a very enjoyable and entertaining movie that i can re watch whenever i wanna have a laugh. There were many scenes and characters that stuck out to me when watching. For example the ferit was one little thing that everyone thought was hilarious ! Also the scuba instructor was my favorite because of the incredibly funny accent. The overall entire movie was excellent and exceeded my expectations.

MY REVIEW

In my opinion the movie was very good and i liked it a lot. I would say that the acting was fantastic because of the two incredible actors starring in the movie and of course they are very talented. I did not see anything wrong with the directing and filming of the movie. Everything from the angles to the story line was perfect and nothing seemed to go wrong. I found the story line of the movie a typical romantic comedy because it was a little obvious in my opinion. Otherwise, the overall movie was fantastic! I recommend this movie to teenagers, young adults and adults. The movie is not suitable for younger audiences because of the sexuality involved. I also think this is a perfect movie for couples to go see together !

Our movie

Log line: What if three best friends where stuck on an island together.

Treatment: 3 best friends go on a trip, and they decide to go on a scuba diving setion with a group of people. They are reminded that they have to be back at at the boat at a certain time, but they end up being late and the boat leaves without them. They get picked up by a boat and get brought back to a random island. They find the people there are suspicious and want to eventually kill them. Will they get off this island or not ?

Stage 1: In the beginning the 3 friends, Crystle, Mary and Jason (main characters) get ready for their trip and you get to know a little about their character.

Turping Point 1: They go on scuba diving setion, but dont get back to the boat on time.

Stage 2: They get stuck in the middle of the ocean hoping for somebody to come, untill a boat comes and pick them up and bring them to a deserted island.

Turning point 2: They realize the groupe of people on the island are suspicious and want to find a way to get out of their as soon as possible and back to the resort they were staying at.

stage 3: Crystle dissappears but mary and jason find her killed on the island.

Turning point 3: Mary and Jason try to run away from the people.

Stage 4: They get cuaght running away and they are locked up in a cave. The people are crazy and want them to stay so they can have more people on the island. Therefore they are forced to stay.

Turning point 4: They almost found a way out of the cave but get caught.

Stage 5: They figure out a plan to get out of the cave once again.

Turning point 5: When they finally figure it out, they escape making the people come after them again, but jason and mary found a way to kill them.

Stage 6: They take the boat and finally sail back to the resort.

My first landscape was a picture of colorful leaves. I chose to make color adjustments to inhance the colors of the leaves to make the colors brighter. I also added texture to this picture. I chose this picture because i really liked the way the leaves were positioned in the picture , also because the colors were beautiful.
The second landscape that i photo shoped was a picture of red flowers. I also made color adjustments to this picture to make the red stand out more and to make the little ant on the flower sand out more. I chose this picture because i really liked the colors and i also liked that there was an ant on the flower. It made the picture so much more interesting.
My first portrait that i chose to photo shop was a picture of Sara gurreri posing. I chose to adjust the colors and play around with the lighting in the picture. I wanted to shoe to stand out and also her red lips. I chose this picture because if i were to look at a picture like this , i would be intreaged by it. It looks like a model picture and i like the way i photo shoped it.
The second picture i photo shoped was a picture of Sabrina Blandino. I made black and white adjustments to this picture. I chose this picture because it made her look like a rebel and the black and white added to that. It made the picture that much nicer.

For color adjustments i went to image, adjustments and color balance. I did this to most of my pictures because i wanted the colors to stand out. For the textured picture , i went to file, open, my documents, my pictures, Open: Textures(ttv layers). After that i chose one that i liked and opened it. I then blended it with the original image and clicked on restore down. I draged the texture on top of the original picture. I pressed edit, free transform. I then streched to cover photo and changed blending mode.
For black and white i went to image, adjustments and decaturate. It was probably the easiest for me.

I believe i deserved an 80 becauese i did put a lot of effort into my picture taking. I am not the greatest photographer but i did try my best to make my pictures look nice. I liked the way my pictures came out and i also liked them even more when i photoshoped them. The pictures i took are very simple but that is what i prefer.

Case Study 3

1. Jared one day goes to school and gets called down to the office. He was shocked when he found out that he was getting suspended because of photos that were posted online. Jared went to a party that weekend and someone has taken a picture of him drinking something with their camera phone and posted it on the net but he does not know who posted this picture ! Therefore he calls all the people who were at this party and finds out who it is. Jared tells his friend to take it off but there is still a link that will always be there.

I do not think that the principle should have suspended him for seeing a picture of someone drinking. The principle has no right to be looking at students pictures. That is a form of privacy because teachers should not be looking at the things their students do when they are not in school. I think that it should be a parents job to do that if they feel the need too not the teachers. Also, i think that Jared’s friend should not have posted the picture he took and put it on the computer. That wasn’t very nice of him especially because it was his friend but also because that picture stays there. Everyone has access to that picture like the principle for example. Another issue is that there will always be a link on the internet of that picture and anyone can view it whenever they wanted to. That is another form a privacy because i am sure that Jared does not want everyone to know that he was drinking or what he was doing.

2. I do not think they are extremely serious because i think that there could be worse. Although if i were in Jared’s position i know that i would be very upset to know that i am being suspended for going to a party and drinking and having a picture posted up that i was not responsible for. The picture was not meant for the principle to see and i do not think that what the principle did was right. He should not bring something that does not involve school inside school and penalize him for doing what he wanted. If his parents gave him permission then why should somebody else punish him. Also , i do not like that someone posted this picture on the internet for the fun of it because in the end Jared got penalized not the person who posted the picture.

3. No i do not think it is relevant to my life because if i went to a party with my friends i know that nobody would actually do that to me. Also, even if pictures were posted up of me , teachers should not be looking at our personal things. They are only our teachers to us and im sure they would like their privacy as well.

Case Study 2

1. Jillian shops online for everything. One thing she loves to buy on congo.com are books. She’s impressed by how good their recommendations have been because they are always so accurate the more books she buys. She also subscribed to a free online reading for magazines. Although, Jillian starts noticing that she is receiving junk mail, both spam and postal mail. She’s even getting telemarketing calls at home, and spam text messages on her cell phone. Therefore she tells her mom about it and her mom tells her that the magazine publisher is selling her name to other companies.

One big issue of privacy is that we have to be careful of the information we give out to these websites because you don’t know what they are doing with it. Another issue is that these websites should not be distributing someones information to other advertisements just so that we are attracted to these advertisements. Also, when she looked at the privacy policy it said that they wouldn’t give out the information but they also never asked her when she signed up for the website. I think the website should ask the consumer weather or not they want to give out their PERSONAL information. The website does not want the people to know that because they want us to use their website. Another issue that i do not agree with is that the website says that they are not responsible for the companies that print out her books or magazines will do with her information. I think they should be aware that it is our personal and private information and it should not be going around. Also, companies and advertisements should not be gathering information between each other about peoples information to improve recommendations for them.

2. I think privacy is a big part of somebodies life and every individual deserves to decide weather or not they want to give out their information. That being said, it is a serious issue for those who do give out their information to these websites because we do not know what they are doing with this info. We choose to believe that the information is going to be safe with them but is it really safe ? I think that if somebody is giving you their information, that the website should be responsible in keeping that private. Therefore i think that is a big issue because in Jillian’s case with congo.com, the website said they are not in control over what the companies that actually print the books and magazines will do with her information. I think that is very wrong because we trust the website to keep our information and take responsibility for it. It can be dangerous because we are clueless about what these companies might be doing with our personal information.

3. It is very relevant to my life because being Jillian’s age, I also shop online for the same things. I understand exactly what the issues are. This case study actually opened my eyes and made me realize that our personal information is very important even when the websites say its safe, we never really know. I am constantly on the computer and i am always on websites witch acquire my information in order to use the website. We need to be more aware and read the privacy policy more often !!!
